“獵頭挖人”的“挖”，在英語里有一個(gè)現(xiàn)成的對(duì)應(yīng)詞：poach（音：/p??t?/ ）。

來看一下《BEC中級(jí)真題（第4輯 ）》第一篇閱讀中的一句話：

One manager in the research group was unconvinced by the logic of sending his best people away on development courses, 'only to see them poached by another department, or worse still, another firm'.

在這篇關(guān)于“怎樣造就公司將來良好員工”的文章里，一位司理表達(dá)的本身的擔(dān)心，他以為：自己最優(yōu)秀的員工沒須要送去到場(chǎng)一些培訓(xùn)課程，由于終極的效果很有大概是優(yōu)秀員工被其他部分挖走了，更糟的環(huán)境是，被其他公司挖走。

《哈佛貿(mào)易批評(píng)》網(wǎng)站標(biāo)題為 How to Reduce the Costs of Salesperson Turnover 文章中，又有如許一句話：

Poaching of salespeople also occurs when sales are driven largely by relationships. 在重要依賴人脈關(guān)系的販賣運(yùn)動(dòng)中，銷售職員也會(huì)被挖走。

poach 的本意和引申義

有不少人第一次看到“獵頭公司”，差點(diǎn)當(dāng)作“豬頭公司”。（應(yīng)該沒有人把《獵場(chǎng)》看成《豬場(chǎng)》吧）

headhunter 是“獵頭（獵頭公司）”對(duì)應(yīng)的英文，head（頭）+ hunter（獵人），以是“獵頭”這個(gè)詞聽起來多少有點(diǎn) “英式中文”的味道。回顧：你風(fēng)俗「不能同意更多」這個(gè)說法嗎？

而 poach 之所以能有“挖人”的寄義，大概也和 poach 的本意有關(guān)：偷獵?！?和 hunter 呼應(yīng)。

絕大多數(shù)辭書里，都把 poach 作為"挖人"的含義單獨(dú)列了一條釋義：

to persuade someone who belongs to another organization, team etc to leave it and join yours, especially in a secret or dishonest way — 朗文

If an organization poaches members or customers from another organization, they secretly or dishonestly persuade them to join them or become their customers. — 柯林斯

兩本詞典的釋義里，都把 poach 形貌述成 secret or dishonest，這和中文的“挖人”的“挖”含義上對(duì)應(yīng)。
